YAZMIN LACEY MORNING MATTERS

Yazmin Lacey is an incredibly effortless soul singer who was spotted a couple of years ago by Giles Peterson, landing her a place on his Future Bubblers mentorship programme. The Nottingham-based Londoner seeps talent and vitality, despite her modesty. In relation to her music, she explains: "The truth is relatable - I just say things exactly how I feel them.". Her third EP Morning Matters follows suit of her previous works which reside in expressive and luscious jazz infusions. The title track 'Morning Matters' sees indulgent, tranquil saxophone notes open the song, along with the soft ring of whirly-style keys. A skipping drum beat marries tightly to the succinct bass line, leaving plenty of space for Yazmin's rich, syrupy vocals to spread across. 'Morning Matters' is a delightful low-key jazz tune which flowers like spring daffodils. -Ellie Rose-Davies
